This is the unique original Gouache painting by Harry Green.

The two main trains shown are a diesel-powered Inter-City 125 and, alongside, a train of special malt containers hauled by a Class 37 diesel-electric locomotive. Small diesel units like the one that is shown on the far right are used on local services.

The left inset shows passengers travelling in comfort on a Inter-City train; the right inset shows a modern signal box.
