Ref: JacksonDickens (Click for LARGE picture)

Artist: Peter Jackson (biography)
Medium: Watercolour on Board
Size: 11" x 16" (290mm x 410mm)
Date: 1962

This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Peter Jackson.

A sequence of panels from part 7 of the series The Dover Road which was written and drawn by Peter Jackson. This feature and subsequent "Road histories" was a back cover feature in Look and Learn during the early years. This very early example was published in Look and Learn #7 on 3rd March, 1962.

It tells the story of Charles Dickens's fondness for the area between Gravesend and Rochester. It features both the house where Dickens spent his honeymoon and the house he lived and died in, Gad's Hill Place which had caught his fancy as a boy.

Please note the artwork has been cut and pasted from it's original position as it was later used for a page in the 1971 Eagle annual.
