This is the unique original Watercolour painting by John Worsley.

John Worsley paints with extraordinary panache, vibrancy, and attention to detail. The artist, who also worked as a portrait artist for the Metropolitan Police, uses his extraordinary skill to create life like characters both adults and children can identify and empathise with.

In this case, the hero of the story, Wee Willie Winkie is travelling on the Oriana orient cruise ship, built in 1960 by Vickers-Armstrong's, Barrow, with his adventurous friends and his ever optimistic and helpful elephant with whom he travels the world.

A fabulous double page spread painted for a Wee Willie Winkie story appearing in Treasure magazine No 391.

Worsley, who spent time in the P.O.W. camp after being captured in then Yugoslavia, achieves a fantastic liberation from the past by painting in such a fluid joyful manner. Worsley's work can be found in The Imperial War Museum, The Maritime Museum, The collection of HM The Queen, The Savage club and many other private collections including Royal Families, banks and Colleges.

Please note that as is often the case with double page spreads, this illustration board has been scored and folded down the centre line where the illustration would meet the spine of the magazine.
